 Little Rock Visitor Center

at Historic Curran Hall

History: Walter's-Curran-Bell House (or Curran Hall) was built in 1842-43 and is one of the oldest residential structures in Little Rock.  The antebellum Greek Revival home was built by Col. Ebenezer Walters as a wedding gift to Mary, his young bride.  Mary died before the house was completed, so the Col. sold it.  In 1849, James Curran purchased the house, then sold it to Mary Woodruff Bell in 1884.  The house stayed in the Bell family till 1993.
Reported Activity: Rocking chair on back porch rocking back and forth, bottle moving in curio cabinet, picture hanging in  main entryway, falling off wall, and a overall feeling of being watched.

Investigators: Rhonda Burton, Debbie Saylor & LaDonna Campbell.

Employees present:  Linda Howell & Geri Wright

Audio Evidence:    "Mary, that's who I am," (1MB) Recorded in the parlor area.
Note: Two owners of Curran Hall were named "Mary."

Video Evidence: A shadow appears, then darts away, on the mantel in the back room. The light source is coming from the back porch light. After returning to Curran Hall and recreating the shadow, the only way to do this was to stand directly in front of the window, inside or outside. In the video, there is no one in front of the window. Also, all investigators were seated at the time the video was recorded. Curran Shadow (3.71MB)

Audio Evidence: Curran Hall, "Averell"

Evp of a man saying, "Averell."  Averell Tate was the last descendant of the Bell family who lived in the home.

A video camera was placed in the shed. On review, the shed door was captured opening.

Audio Evidence:  Curran Hall, Baby Chime

Example of an residual evp.  You will hear Linda at the very beginning, then the child and chime.

Audio Evidence: Curran Hall, "Of course they are."

While we were doing a evp session, someone tried to open the Visitor Center's door. You will hear me say, "are they trying to get in?" The spirit then says, "of course they are."

Audio Evidence: Curran Hall, "Get out of here, I'm talking.

Audio Evidence:  Curran Hall.  "Hello."

Captured as Linda Howell & Rhonda Burton were greeting Mindy Hunter with APRA.

Audio Evidence: Curran Hall. 'I did."

We were discussing how beautiful Curran Hall was and Mindy said, "if I lived here, I wouldn't want to leave." The male spirit says, "I did."

Preceding Rhonda's last visit at Curran Hall with Linda Howell, the Grandfather Clock in the Parlor started working and chiming on the hour.  It hasn't worked in several years.  At 2:00 a.m. on the day she visited, it stopped working. The evp's below were captured that day and you can hear the clock ticking in the background. This is important because Linda was resigning from her position at Curran Hall and she told the spirits she was leaving.

Audio Evidence:  Curran Hall. "Tommy"

Audio Evidence:  Curran Hall. "Alex"
